Glass insulators typical of use on 11,000 volt distribution networks in the UK. Often referred to as 'Dish Insulators' or 'Strain Insulators. This twin set is suitable for coastal areas giving improved insulation where salt deposits are higher. The steel hook at the back of the insulators is often referred to as a pig tail, while the metal plate with holes in it is called a 'Tension Strap' This model is very near scale. It was created with metric units but will of course convert to inches. I am developing other scale models of UK overhead power line equipment. there's also an 11kv Pin insulator (ceramic type). A lot of distribution networks are moving into plastic insulators, with advantages and drawbacks.
