Inspired by early DDG-1000 concepts, I used the Burke as a basis for
a possible Ticonderoga-class cruiser replacement; by combining the
Zumwalt's technology with a mature hull for maximum effectiveness,
this theoretical vessel rivals the PLAN Type 055 Destroyer (Renhai).
Changes from the hangar-equipped variant (Flight IIA) Burke include:
•20m hull stretch for increased internal volume, better fuel efficiency
•enclosed bow + superstructure to reduce radar cross-section (RCS)
•14' AMDR (2x2' modules), 2x Advanced Enclosed Mast/Sensor (AEMS)
•128 (4×32) Mark 57 peripheral VLS cells abreast of the deckhouse
•155 mm Advanced Gun System in place of the bow 5" gun for NGS
